Position Overview
Assistant Professor of Poultry Science, Department of Animal Science, University of California, Davis. This is a 9-month tenure-track position in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Applications are invited from candidates who will contribute to teaching, research and service, addressing the needs of a diverse state and student population. The appointee is expected to conduct mission-oriented research and outreach of relevance to the California Agricultural Experiment Station. Responsibilities
The Department seeks applicants focusing on Poultry Science. The appointee will establish a competitively funded research program addressing critical or emerging issues in poultry production, health and well-being. The candidate should employ innovative approaches and technologies (e.g., single-cell sequencing, genome-wide CRISPR screens, genome-editing, artificial intelligence, machine learning) to explore cellular, tissue and organism-level processes affecting poultry. Tenure-track faculty typically teach 2.5 courses per academic year, including avian-related courses (e.g., AVS103, AVS150, AVS121, ANS143) and a large undergraduate Animal Science course (e.g., ANS123). The appointee will contribute to graduate mentoring and teaching and advise undergraduates. Participation in outreach/engagement programs and departmental/university service is expected. Collaboration with extension educators and industry partners is anticipated. Qualifications
Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Poultry Science, Avian Science, Animal Science, Animal Biology, or related field (degree must be awarded by start of the position). Post-doctoral experience is preferred. Evidence of research excellence is expected. The candidate should be able to develop and instruct undergraduate and graduate courses and to conduct extramurally funded research in poultry science. The candidate should also have an interest in and commitment to the objectives of a land-grant university and the Agricultural Experiment Station, including mission-oriented research and substantive outreach. Compensation/Salary
The salary range for this position is $105,700 – $129,600 per year. Off-scale salaries and other pay components may be offered to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience. How to Apply
