We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Hardwood Floor Refinishing Contractor to join our team on an ongoing sub-contractor basis for residential and/or commercial applications in Downtown Chicago, servicing Gold Coast, Old Town, River North, Streeterville, The Loop, West Loop, South Loop, Pilsen, Heart of Chicago, and other neighborhoods. The ideal candidate will be experienced in all aspects of hardwood flooring sanding and refinishing, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for delivering outstanding workmanship. This position requires someone who can produce high-quality work while ensuring customer satisfaction and adhering to our safety and professionalism standards. Key Responsibilities:
Prepare flooring for sanding and refinishing, including assessing the current condition and performing necessary repairs. Operate sanding equipment to remove old finishes and smooth surfaces. Apply stains, finishes, and sealants according to manufacturer instructions and customer preferences. Ensure all projects meet quality standards and are completed within the scheduled timeframe. Communicate effectively with clients to understand their vision and provide expert advice and recommendations. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper handling and disposal of materials. Collaborate with sales and design teams to meet project specifications and customer expectations. Insurance Requirements:
Possess errors and omissions insurance of no less than $2 million. Maintain insurance coverage for employees or third parties, including at least $500,000 bodily injury and $1,000,000 property damage coverage. Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Sand and Refinish Installer or similar role, with a portfolio of projects, preferably in Chicago buildings, high-rises, homes, and businesses. Strong knowledge of wood flooring types and finishing products. Ability to operate sanding and refinishing equipment safely and efficiently. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. High school diploma or equivalent; professional flooring certification is a plus. Benefits:
