The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems in the Mike Cottrell College of Business (MCCB) invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position in Cybersecurity starting August 2025. The successful candidate will teach introductory and upper division Cybersecurity and Computer Science courses for Cybersecurity majors and minors, such as computer security, computer forensics, network security, database security, Linux operating system, and reverse engineering. The teaching load is 18 semester credit hours per academic year. Additional teaching opportunities may be available in the summer. Relevant credentials and experience in cybersecurity are highly preferred. Applicants are expected to demonstrate exemplary teaching, a strong publication record and research pipeline, and currency in their professional field. Quality teaching and student engagement and success are high priorities for the department, the college, and UNG. The position is located on the Dahlonega campus, but faculty may be asked periodically to teach on another campus as well. Responsibilities Responsible for teaching 18 semester credit hours each academic year of introductory and upper division Cybersecurity and/or Computer Science courses for Cybersecurity majors and minors, as well as some general education information technology courses. Advise majors, participate in scholarship within the discipline, and engage in service activities for the department, college, university, and profession. Required Qualifications A doctorate in Cybersecurity or closely related field is required at the time of appointment. ABD may be considered with evidence that the degree is nearing completion. Preferred Qualifications Evidence of superior teaching abilities strongly preferred. Professional experience and/or relevant industry certifications in specialized areas in Cybersecurity is preferred. Record of being awarded competitive grants, especially at the federal level, is preferred.
