Overview The YMCA is seeking a Personal Trainer for a part-time position at Wang YMCA. Department: Center Staff. Location: Wang YMCA. Key Responsibilities

Supports the Mission and Vision of the YMCA and builds community.

Builds a personal training clientele to include one-on-one and small group training.

Demonstrates clear explanations and exercise material with proper form and technique.

Develops positive relationships with members and provides motivational support and guidance.

Participates in Trainer Education Lectures for members.

Tracks client progress.

Follows up with each client in a timely manner and on a regularly scheduled basis.

Meets or exceeds monthly personal training session goals as determined by the Health and Wellness Director.

Actively promotes personal training services to members through outreach, demonstrations, and events.

Operates all equipment properly and promptly reports any problems.

Availability to work shifts on gym floor as support staff as needed.

Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Completes incident and accident reports, as necessary.

Attends necessary trainings and meetings, as scheduled. Participates in YMCA-sponsored training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and maintain certifications.

Qualifications

Two or Four-year degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred but not required.

Nationally accredited certification (preferred: NSCA, ACSM, NASM)

Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification

Possess an enthusiastic, passionate, friendly, and ambitious personality

Demonstrated ability to perform fitness assessments and to teach progressive exercise programs that are focused on member’s goals

Ability to instruct and observe participants using proper exercise techniques

Ability to create and monitor safe and effective exercise programs for individuals, as well as recognize a member’s potential and limitations

Ability to sell the value and life changing experience of personal training to members

Ability to use member management software to track clients and communicate effectively.

Demonstrates a commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for members of all backgrounds, abilities, and experiences.

Must be reliable, dependable, flexible, and adaptable

Possess mature judgment and sound decision-making

Great communication skills

Must be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.
