Onsite – This role requires the employee to be onsite on a regular basis. The primary work location will be the General Motors Global Technical Center in Warren, MI. The Role

As an Auxiliary Automation Solutions Engineer, you will be responsible for the system design of automated material handling products that are key enablers for allowing end-to-end automation systems to achieve results. This includes, but is not limited to dimensioning stations, identification portals (scan, label, apply, manifest), conveyance, ergonomic assistance automation, loading dock equipment, transfer-car, racking, vertical conveyance, equipment interlock/interfaces, and sortation. The candidate will lead the development of the system design requirements / functional specifications, SOW, and EOO for the critical products that support full solutions. The candidate will act as the primary technical interface between the facility owner and the Engineering and Planning staff, as well as between other product solution engineers to ensure the success of product and system interactions. The candidate will collect, analyze, coordinate and refine raw technical content on the system / solution provided by the Planning Engineer team, facility team, engineering staff in order to produce clear finished design documents of the system identifying products required to achieve success in the full solution involving the ARC product portfolio. The candidate will have the technical and writing skills required to design, create, maintain, review documents / drawings and perform final edits and quality checks. What You’ll Do

Work directly with Engineers to identify / research product functions, attributes, capabilities, characteristics, or qualities to create detailed design documents. Create, understand and modify technical data for use in documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures, sales proposals and specifications. Work with the customer and other solutions engineers on system design / layout for approval and finalization Review and interpret project specifications Work with software groups to develop overall operational design for critical interface points within the solution and between systems/products operating within the solution Check and approve drawings of other systems engineers and draftspersons Work with Planning and Engineering to develop System Specifications. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

2+ years of Automation / Material Handling experience Proven experience designing and deploying disruptive automation or robotics solutions, including mobile robotics (AMR, AGV), robotic arms, or autonomous systems with a deep knowledge of interconnecting automation equipment. Deep understanding of systems engineering principles, design patterns, and performance optimization techniques. Demonstrated ability to lead architectural reviews, define system interfaces, and manage cross-functional integration. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-aligned strategies. Experience managing ambiguity, balancing competing constraints, and driving innovation from concept to execution What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
