Overview

Summary:

Assists at two sites, for the Director of Operations in Mercersburg, PA and the General Manager in East Berlin, PA to ensure the E.H.S. management system is established, implemented and maintained in accordance with the requirements of the applicable Safety Management system standards, ISO 14001 and governmental environmental. Responsibilities

Champion division safety and environmental sustainability programs. This may include implementing relevant policy/procedures, providing workforce training, document control, root cause incident investigation/reporting and corrective action execution. Identify and develop strong working relationships with external federal, state and local authorities and internal EHS contacts. Assist in the development and implementation of programs to achieve, maintain and exceed compliance with relevant regulatory laws and company standards. Ensure compliance with applicable air permit requirements. Promote a culture of environmental consciousness and continuous EHS improvement. Ensure EHS objectives are recognized and pursued by all members of the organization. Direct functional teams in the coordination of EHS compliance activities. Determine industrial hygiene needs and conduct necessary air and noise monitoring. Conduct periodic audits to evaluate compliance to established policies, procedures, and governmental regulations. Manage worker's compensation incident investigations for all injury, near miss, and property damage incidents. Assist department supervisors with proper investigations and development of effective and sustainable corrective actions. Drive processes to reduce safety related incidents in the workplace. Support company safety committee. Develop and implement safety management systems, which include written standards, training requirements, monitoring/auditing elements and corrective action steps. Participate in new hire orientation training. Schedule, plan and initiate internal environmental audits to verify whether environmental management system activities and related results comply with documentation and implementation requirements, and to determine the effectiveness of the system in achieving stated environmental objectives. Report results of internal environmental audits to the Quality Management Team at periodic management reviews of the environmental management system. Ensure the environmental management system is established, implemented and maintained in accordance with the requirements of the applicable environmental management system standard. Report on the performance of the environmental management system to the Environmental Management Team at periodic management reviews. Act as an internal consultant and facilitator for the environmental management system-related issues. Provide general awareness education for management functions pertaining to the environmental management system requirements. Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

Degree in an applicable field and/or a minimum of 5 years' experience in an appropriate position. Bachelor's Degree in EHS or related science or minimum of 10 years managing EHS program. Minimum of 5 years managing EHS in a manufacturing environment preferred. Knowledge of federal and state EHS regulations Strong background in industrial hygiene, safety and construction safety Demonstrated ability to conduct classroom and virtual trainings Experience identifying, evaluating and controlling EHS hazards General working knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 safety standards and 40 CFR environmental standards dealing with environmental issues including the CAA, CWA, RCRA, EPCRA, etc. Knowledge of General Industry Standards in the US and Workers’ Compensation laws. Experience interfacing with third party administrators preferred. Physical Demands

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally is exposed to hot and cold temperatures. Works in an environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud.
