Title:

Manager/Director, Government Affairs (Environment, Occupational Health & Safety, Facility Security) Reports to:

SVP, Government Affairs The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) Government Affairs team is seeking a government affairs manager/director to lead a policy portfolio which includes environment, occupational health & safety, and facility security. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with the staff and TFI membership; particularly the members of the Environmental, Health, Safety and Security Committee for which the person will serve as staff liaison. The position requires closely monitoring industry developments, needs, and challenges and seeking policy solutions where appropriate. The person holding this position will engage in policy efforts including participation in coalitions, drafting public comments and letters, and consistent engagement with lawmakers and regulators. Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain congressional and agency relationships. Monitor portfolio-relevant congressional committees for legislative and related actions Participate as a team player of the Gov Affairs team; apprise the SVP, CEO and TFI members on matters of interest; make recommendations regarding participating in any proceedings, and lead in the development of TFI’s participation. Monitor the work of federal agencies relevant to the portfolio such as EPA, OSHA, and DHS. Address industry-related group meetings at the state and national level, as appropriate. Manage the TFI Environmental, Health, Safety and Security Committee and related workgroups and subcommittees of the committee. Serve as the Staff Liaison to the TFI-led Nitrate/Nitrite Coalition; strategy development & execution, external coalition management, consultant management. Serve as the TFI representative on select coalitions and outside committees. Qualifications and Experience

Policy background required (2+ years of Congressional or regulatory experience, preferred) Experience in trade association, or advocacy fields, preferred Engaging communicator Ability to work in a bipartisan manner across congressional committees, administrative agencies, and stakeholder coalitions Self-starter Dynamic, collaborative team-player Be a positive example of TFI’s Culture & Values: Member-Focus, Collaboration, Innovation, Respect Compensation and Benefits
