Security Engineered Machinery
SEM is seeking a Controls Engineer with a mechanical engineering background to join our R&D department. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with PLC-based control systems, sensors, and electric motors. This multifaceted role involves taking primary responsibility for integrating the complete electrical and controls design of new products. While some coordination with external resources may be required, the position demands the knowledge and capability to integrate electrical components and analyze entire systems independently. The role also requires proficiency in PLC programming, data acquisition systems, and the ability to design and conduct product development testing. Additionally, strong mechanical design capabilities are essential for developing new products and modifying existing ones.
Job Duties:
Experience with both single and 3-phase AC powered systems and both AC and DC powered components Extensive knowledge of PLC-based control systems and integration of HMIs, sensors, motors, relays, and other components Ability to read, analyze, and modify PLC ladder logic programs. Strong preference will be given for proficiency in creating comprehensive programs for all logic and communications in final products Knowledge of microcontroller-based systems with embedded firmware preferred Strong knowledge and experience with data acquisition systems and ability to design testing schemes and conduct testing for product development purposes Strong knowledge of electrical control panels and ability to read and modify schematics at both system and PCB levels Strong knowledge and experience in mechanicaldesign, materials, and analysis Ability to create and modify mechanical drawings Knowledge of machining and sheet metal fabrication processes strongly preferred Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong writing and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling; SolidWorks strongly preferred Proficiency with computer software: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint Education:
