Job Description Under the leadership of the IRU department director the Staff Speech/Language Therapist is responsible for supporting the mission of the hospital by providing quality speech therapy services. The Speech/Language Therapist applies evidence, knowledge, and skills to positively affect swallowing, cognitive, and expressive skills, and life satisfaction of patients of all ages who have impairments of aural, oral, and brain functions resulting from injury, disease, or other causes. The Speech/Language Therapist is a qualified individual who diagnoses, prognoses, prescribes for, and/or remediates speech, and/or language and/or orofacial myofunction disorders. The Speech Language Therapist interacts, collaborates, and communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team, physicians, patients, and patients’ families for optimal patient and program outcomes. The Speech Therapist shall also assist with any and all other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Provide quality speech therapy services.

Diagnose, prognose, prescribe for, and/or remediate speech, language and/or orofacial myofunction disorders.

Interact, collaborate, and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team, physicians, patients, and patients’ families for optimal patient and program outcomes.

Assist with any and all other duties as assigned.

Experience

Must have demonstrated track record of effective collaboration with care team members of all disciplines and ability to function optimally as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, and visitors.

Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner, verbally and in writing.

Basic computer and word processing skills.

Education Masters of Science in Speech/Language Pathology or Audiology from an educational program.

Licensure/Certifications

Must have a California State Speech Language Pathologist license; or may consider a Clinical Fellow.

American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification is required.

Must be QI credential prior to the completion of 90 days of employment then maintained annually thereafter.

Pay Pay Range (based on years of applicable experience): $59.36 to $79.41

The hours employees work determine when a shift differential is paid. Hourly Evening Shift Differential: $3.87; Hourly Night Shift Differential: $5.81
