The Position We are looking for a Research Scientist I – Analytical Chemistry to join our innovation team. This role is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career scientist to gain valuable hands-on experience while working in a dynamic and forward-thinking organization. You’ll collaborate closely with experienced scientists and cross-functional teams, supporting analytical testing, method development, and product innovation. This is a full-time, in-person role based at our Dartmouth, NS location. Responsibilities

Assist in the execution of analytical testing of oil and biomass samples, including sample preparation, classical wet chemistry techniques (e.g., titration, UV-vis), and instrumental analysis (e.g., GC/FID) Support method transfer activities by preparing documentation and coordinating with external laboratories and manufacturing facilities Operate and maintain basic laboratory equipment; assist in troubleshooting under supervision Collect, analyze, and document experimental data in laboratory notebooks and reports with attention to accuracy and detail Communicate analytical results to internal teams, including R&D, quality, and regulatory, with guidance from senior scientists Contribute to the development and revision of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and method transfer documents Stay up to date with advancements in analytical chemistry through training and literature review Assist in setting up and maintaining laboratory systems and instrumentation, including support for gas chromatography (GC) installation and maintenance Help ensure a safe, organized, and efficient work environment in accordance with GLP/GMP requirements and safety guidelines Required Skills & Experience Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field Academic or internship experience with wet chemistry techniques (e.g., titration, UV-vis) and sample preparation Exposure to gas chromatography (GC/FID) through coursework, labs, or internships Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting Willingness to travel up to 10–15 workdays per year Basic understanding of safe handling of chemical and biological materials Desired Skills & Experience Hands-on experience working with oil or lipid samples Exposure to Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR) or High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Familiarity with GLP/GMP or regulated laboratory environments Interest in working with external partners and contributing to method alignment and reproducibility This role is ideal for a recent graduate eager to launch their career in analytical chemistry, offering the chance to work in a supportive and innovative environment where learning and development opportunities are available.
