Pathologist- Clinical Pathology (CP- DO/MD) Inova Laboratories, located in Northern Virginia, is seeking an experienced pathologist with board certification in clinical pathology to serve as part of the clinical pathology service of this large and expanding system laboratory. Fellowship training in Chemistry, Hematopathology and/or Transfusion Medicine is required and at least 3-5 years of experience is ideal. The lab provides a comprehensive range of routine and specialized laboratory tests for both in- and out-patient populations (totaling nearly 10 million billable tests per year including core lab, centralized microbiology, histology and cytology tests). The lab expects the applicant to sign out clinical pathology and surgical/hematopathology (as appropriate) cases, and to provide transfusion medicine services including blood bank and therapeutic apheresis. The applicant must demonstrate strong leadership, team-building skills, and a commitment to quality. The duties will include focused oversight of the laboratory (section medical director) with an emphasis on administrative responsibilities and clinical pathology coverage. The position involves clinical issues such as consultation for clinician inquiries, quality management, operational efficiency including utilization management and outreach, and collaboration with the laboratory Medical Director, administration and technical personnel to provide world-class diagnostic services. The ability to lead a highly proficient team and excellent interpersonal skills are desired. Inova Health Pathology Department supports 5 hospitals and numerous outpatient surgery centers and clinics and is comprised of 48 credentialed pathologists. As a Clinical Pathologist, participate in laboratory regulatory compliance, validations, process improvements, and quality initiatives, with involvement in intra- and extra-departmental committees as a section medical director. Demonstrate strong diagnostic and communication skills with the ability to sign out clinical and surgical pathology cases (as appropriate) and oversee daily clinical laboratory duties including apheresis, blood bank, hematology, and chemistry. Participate in centralized slide distribution and subspecialty sign-out across the system as applicable (e.g., Hematopathology). No autopsy coverage. On-call duties include blood bank calls, apheresis, and other clinical laboratory consults. Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Medical Doctorate Program (MD/DO) Board Certification:

Clinical Pathology - CP Fellowship:

In Clinical Pathology or Hematopathology Certification:

Obtain advanced certification in applicable modality within one year of training; BLS from the American Heart Association Licensure:

Unrestricted VA medical licensure or ability to obtain Credentialing:

Ability to obtain successful medical staff credentials at all Inova pathology locations Preferred Qualifications
