Under the Direction of the AVP of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing directs the clinical and administrative functions of assigned nursing units to ensure high quality, effective patient care and optimal use of labor and non-labor resources. Works with the senior nursing management leadership team to evaluate nursing services and patient care; assists with planning, developing, and implementing policies, procedures and standards for patient services and monitors reporting units for compliance. Participates in the selection and development of effective leadership teams of clinical managers and professional staff. Responsibilities

Ensures staff receive mandated in-servicing in Safety, Quality Assurance, Risk Management, Customer Service, Infection Control, and other applicable in-services. Problem Solving:
Uses strong analytical skills to support quality, cost containment, and impact of change on other departments. Customer Service Management:
Aligns departmental policies with Customer Service goals; reviews service delivery to exceed expectations and acts as a role model. Project Management:
Participates in multi-disciplinary task forces and projects; leads teams to timely project completion. Clinical Leadership:
Provides clinical supervision, leads treatment planning meetings, and may direct hospital-wide clinically oriented committees. _______________________________________
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with the senior nursing management leadership team to establish unit goals and evaluate progress toward goals in alignment with Maimonides Health’s objectives. Assists with planning, developing, and implementing policies, procedures and standards for patient services; monitors compliance. Designs protocols and documentation tools for nursing areas; defines nursing responsibilities in new procedures; collaborates to develop, monitor, and evaluate nursing standards. Evaluates training needs and coordinates orientation and in-services for nurses and Emergency Medicine staff. Communicates information to the healthcare team on clinical and administrative matters; assesses new programs and makes recommendations on implementation and procurement of new products/techniques. Identifies CQI projects and works with leadership to develop, implement, and monitor quality assurance initiatives. Participates in selection, hiring, and supervision of clinical leadership and staff; may initiate disciplinary actions and conduct performance appraisals. Assists in preparing departmental budgets and manages expenditures and overtime within guidelines. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and communicates changes to staff; monitors reporting requirements. Responds to daily problems and investigates complaints with staff to ensure timely resolution. Maintains facilities, equipment, supplies, and materials to promote safety and efficiency. Maintains established department policies, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards. *Indicates an essential job function. Qualifications
Requirements: 2 years leadership experience (charge nurse, team leader, Clinician) Strong leadership skills with the ability to oversee and advance nursing practice and manage patient care operations Team building facilitator Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills BSN BLS/ACLS Preferred: 2-3 years ICU experience MSN Telemetry experience Pay and Employment
