Overview
The primary responsibilities of the Principal Digital/Embedded Engineer are to architect, simulate, design, develop, support implementation, and integration of digital functions and sub-systems into CAES’ products. The candidate will perform requirements specification, digital design, simulation, design validation, system integration, and transition to production. The candidate should have successfully implemented designs in fielded systems and developed test and integration plans. Responsibilities
Create digital concept and architecture from specifications Design digital hardware to interface with real-time and closed-loop Electronic Warfare subsystems to meet system requirements Circuit card design including parts selection, schematic entry, and layout oversight Write and simulate VHDL for FPGAs Write and debug embedded C for micro-controllers Test and integrate circuit cards / sub-systems / systems Interface with complex RF subsystems and/or motion controlled positioner assemblies Be responsible for complete board/module designs with respect to technical details, budget, and schedule Contribute to proposals for new business and provide labor estimates Author related documentation such as version description documents, verification procedures, etc. Qualifications
MINIMUM: Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical field 8+ years of work experience encompassing a broad range of technical, multi-disciplinary responsibilities 8+ years of related experience working with an engineering team including multiple disciplines 8+ years of experience in the design, test, and troubleshooting of digital and mixed signal circuits 8+ years of experience with digital hardware, software, signal processing algorithms, and simulation tools 5+ years of leading analysis, design, and implementation of complex electronic subsystems 5+ years of formulating complex plans and communicating progress, results, and issues to colleagues, managers, and customers 5+ years of experience using FPGA IDEs and simulation tools and/or micro-controller compilers and debuggers U.S. Citizenship required, must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information PREFERRED: Masters of Science in an Engineering Field 10-15 years of work experience in the design, test and troubleshooting of digital and mixed signal circuits 10-15 years of experience with digital hardware, software, signal processing algorithms, and simulation tools Experience implementing and using high data rate interfaces such as Gigabit Ethernet Experience with signal processing / high data rate conversion Experience with electronic warfare subsystems Experience with SoCs and/or RFSoCs such as Xilinx Zynq devices Active Security Clearance About CAES
