Responsible for inspecting, training personnel, and performing organizational, intermediate, and depot level maintenance/modification on contract units, sub-systems, support equipment, and related weapons systems. Advises team members and solves unusual maintenance problems by analyzing and testing engines, pneudraulic, fuel, electrical/electronic systems, etc. Position reports to the Supervisor.

Troubleshoots malfunctions

in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, ground support equipment, and ventilation and heating systems. Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing, and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.

Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds

equipment and engine components, fuel systems (including cells, tanks, fuel/metering control systems), and functional components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.

Reads and interprets

maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

Diagnoses malfunctions , isolates causes, and corrects breaks.

Performs inspections

such as 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections. Examines engines for oil leaks, listens to operating engines to detect malfunctions, and inspects jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burns, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments.

Replaces and repairs

damaged components, using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.

Inspects jet engine turbine blades

for cracks, distortion, corrosion, burnout, security, or breaks. Tests engine operation with equipment such as ignition analyzers, compression checkers, distributor timers, ammeters, and jet calibration testers to locate malfunctions.

Replaces or repairs

worn or damaged components, alternators, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine-mounted gearboxes, using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment. Removes engines from aircraft, disassembles, inspects parts, and repairs or replaces defective engine parts before reassembling and installing the engine in aircraft.

Adjusts, repairs, or replaces

electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories. Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections. Services aircraft by flushing crankcases, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.

Adjusts, repairs, or replaces

instruments, electrical/electronic systems, fuel/oil systems, and accessories.

Supervises

jacking and towing of aircraft, documents work performed, and verifies satisfactory completion. May service engines and airframe components at line stations, focusing on repairs short of overhaul, and may specialize in structural, precision, or functional spare parts and assemblies, including engine repair.

Adheres to policies

of the customer and/or company.

May require licensing

by the Federal Aviation Administration.
