Strategic Enrollment Management Department

Office of Admissions The Dual Admission Counselor plays a vital role in supporting transfer student enrollment by serving as a dedicated liaison between Virginia Commonwealth University and its community college partners. This position is responsible for recruiting, advising, and guiding prospective transfer students through the NEXT STEP VCU dual admission process, ensuring a seamless transition from a 2-year to a 4-year degree program. Core Responsibilities

Student Recruitment (65%): Actively recruit prospective dual admission students by visiting Dual NEXT STEP Admission partner community colleges; attend college fairs, host information sessions, conduct individual student meetings, and provide program information. Meet regularly with the Director of the NEXT STEP Dual Admission program to coordinate the expansion of the NEXT STEP dual admission program and plan dual admission recruitment events and info sessions for prospective students Develop and implement private visits and events to connect with students and transfer counselors at NEXT STEP partner colleges. Plan and execute in-person and virtual info sessions, interviews, and campus tours. Collaborate with the Office of Admissions leadership to develop strategic plans for recruiting a diverse and multifaceted student population. Lead targeted outreach efforts to create community, increase campus visits, improve student yield, and meet institutional transfer enrollment goals. Track student progress through the community college and NEXT STEP Dual Admission process to ensure final matriculation. Represent VCU at college nights, open houses, orientation events, and other on- and off-campus functions, including evenings and weekends as needed. Application review (20%): Accurately reviews and evaluates an assigned caseload of student applications to determine their admissibility to the university adhering to the deadlines and goals of the office's review timeline. Updates student information systems with student data as required. Contacts students and stakeholders when applicant information is incomplete or when additional information is needed. Admissions Networking (10%): Communicates effectively with prospective students, parents, supporters, transfer counselors, and other community college personnel via letters, e-mails, and by phone. Develops and maintains relationships with and serves as a resource for key personnel in assigned geo-markets including community college personnel, the VCU Transfer Center, Admissions Communications, and other campus partners to coordinate effective communication, information availability, and the ultimate success of enrolling transfer students at VCU. Responds to e-mail inquiries sent to the Office of Admissions generic e-mail account as well as to e-mails sent to the employee's individual VCU e-mail account. Participates in electronic marketing communications as needed. Assists in the development and implementation of recruitment activities centered around electronic communications, and mobile and social networks. Collaborates with the Admissions Communications team to develop targeted communications, including development of transfer admissions webpages. This is a restricted position where continued employment is contingent upon continued funding. Benefited, 12-month position with high volume activity. Employee works from the Office of Admissions located on the Monroe Park Campus of VCU and regularly visits other community college and 2-year college campuses. The employee should be open to working a hybrid remote schedule that will include an alternation of working from home and from the Office of Admissions on VCU's Monroe Park Campus. Schedule will be determined and adjusted based on busy seasons. Extensive and regular travel between offices, to VCU, and to other community colleges is expected. Trips with total mileage beyond 25 miles will be reimbursed; appropriate hotel and per diem expenses will also be provided when overnight travel is required. Weekends, holidays, and evening work is common and expected to meet the recruitment goals of the University. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. One year of experience in an Admissions office in a higher education setting, student recruitment, and/or advising students. Demonstrated excellence and experience in working with the public and customer service. Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students, families, school counselors, and other stakeholders. Experience with public speaking; strong comfort level with making presentations to large groups of people. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Unexpired Driver's License, personal vehicle, and active car insurance. Ability to obtain and manage a VCU travel card. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent critical thinking skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Working knowledge of MS Office software. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU. Preferred Qualifications More than one year of experience in college admissions, student recruitment, or advising with a focus on transfer students. Knowledge of VCU and the Virginia Community College System. Experience in compiling, preparing, and analyzing data for reports. Experience with CRM, Banner student information system, and imaging Software. Experience with event planning. Salary Range:
