Payroll and HR Administrator – Nikon Metrology
JOB PURPOSE:
Nikon Metrology is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll and HR Administrator to manage semi-monthly payroll processing, coordinate new hire onboarding, and oversee benefits administration and related HR functions.
LOCATION:
Brighton, MI (onsite)
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Full-cycle payroll processing, accurately and timely, in compliance with federal and state regulations and company policy.
Collaborate with HR and EVP office to ensure timely and accurate funding of post-payroll processing such as H.S.A. disbursements, 401(k) benefits, and other required payments.
Set up and maintain employees’ voluntary/involuntary deductions, including garnishments, 401K, and other approved deductions as applicable.
Conduct a segment of new hire onboarding and employee offboarding, including background checks, HRIS system setup, I-9 verification, orientation, training setup and exit letters.
Process benefit enrollments and terminations.
Reconcile monthly healthcare benefits bills and vendor bills.
Track all employee healthcare costs.
ANCILLARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as liaison between employees and management to answer questions or concerns regarding company policies, practices, and regulations.
Assist with employee onboarding including new hire orientation, benefits presentation, signed policy verification and Form I-9 verification including data input into E-Verify.
Ensure that employment actions meet federal and state legislation requirements under the direction of the HR Manager.
Keep employee files in order and compliant with company processes.
Manage administration of vacation and sick time for employees in ADP Workforce Now. Assist employees with related inquiries.
File and assist with organization of confidential HR files.
All other tasks assigned as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
3+ years’ experience of multi-state payroll processing.
Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll and tax laws.
Knowledge and proficiency with ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS/Payroll system.
Ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision while maintaining confidentiality.
Accounting-oriented skills, good math skills, data entry.
Knowledge of human resources principles, legal and regulatory requirements related to HR policies and practices.
Ability to track and report data as needed.
Excellent computer skills; excellent written and oral communication skills.
DESIRABLE
Certified Payroll Professional Certification (CPP) and/or SHRM Certification.
Accounting-oriented skills.
FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES

Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and deadlines
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
Ability to gain and hold the confidence of departments served in the company

Professional office environment with frequent use of computers, phones, and standard office equipment
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing administrative tasks
