The Payroll and Benefits Supervisor oversees day-to-day administration of payroll processing and employee benefits programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while delivering accurate, timely payroll and effective benefits management. The supervisor leads payroll staff, coordinates with vendors, and serves as a resource for employees on compensation and benefits matters. This role also ensures timely payroll processing, benefits enrollment and support, system integrations, and responds to employee inquiries. The position supports HR operations and regulatory compliance and reports to the Director of Human Resources. This role is located at the Hitachi Global Air Power manufacturing facility in Michigan City, Indiana. Note:

Payroll Administration
Supervise and execute end-to-end payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, local, and international regulations. Review and audit payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and maintain data integrity across systems. Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, timekeeping, tax withholdings, and compensation with professionalism and accuracy. Perform compensation analysis and support the administration of sales commission agreements. Benefits Administration
Manage benefits programs including open enrollment, plan changes, new hire onboarding, and employee support. Serve as a subject matter expert on company benefits, providing guidance and resolving issues related to health, retirement, and leave programs. Administer and track employee leaves of absence (FMLA, ADA, etc.), ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies. Systems & Integration
Oversee system integrations between payroll, HRIS, and benefits platforms to ensure seamless data flow and reporting. Support LMS administration, including employee training assignments and tracking of mandatory or role-based training. Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with all payroll tax regulations, labor laws, and benefits requirements. Stay current on legislative changes impacting payroll and benefits, updating policies and processes accordingly. Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external vendors to support audits, reporting, and process improvements. International Payroll
Manage international payroll tasks including expatriate compensation, foreign tax compliance, and multi-currency payroll processing. Coordinate with global payroll vendors and HR teams to ensure accurate and compliant payroll across multiple jurisdictions. Maintain documentation and audit trails for international payroll transactions. Team Support & Culture
Provide guidance and mentorship to payroll and benefits team members, fostering a collaborative and service-oriented culture. Contribute to HR initiatives that enhance employee experience, operational efficiency, and data accuracy. Other Duties
Perform other HR-related duties and projects assigned. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience Really Catch Our Eye With Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in payroll and benefits administration. At least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role. Strong math and analytical skills Experience with Workday and UKG Pro is a plus Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications Certification such as CPP, CBP, PHR, or SHRM-CP preferred.
