Job Description
HR Business Partner/Assistant to the Dean
Serve as Human Resource Business Partner for the college, overseeing all faculty hiring processes and faculty support, dean’s office staff hiring, and supporting and training college departments as needed in all employment matters. Provide administrative support to the Dean, Associate Deans, Assistant Deans, and other college administrators and personnel (six departments/schools, Museum of Art, and CFAC Marketing and Production). Assist college leadership by administering and directing all programs and processes related to college administration.
What You’ll Do In This Position
Workday Human Resources Business Partner: Manage all core HR Business Partner Workday transactions
Provide consulting, guidance, and coaching to employees and leadership on HR-related functions
Develop relationships of trust and formulate partnerships with deans, chairs/directors, HR operations specialists, and college employees
Respond to inquiries and liaise between CFAC personnel, HR operations specialists and central human resources
Work with HR center of expertise regarding compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures and communicate the value of HR initiatives to college leadership and employees
Support college and unit leadership in addressing HR-related needs and issues
Manage FT Faculty hiring, faculty leaves, and retirements processes for the college in coordination with unit HR Operations Specialists
Support deans in HR-adjacent college processes including faculty rank & status, faculty and staff awards, committee assignments, chair/director reviews, and performance reviews
Administrative Assistant to the Dean
Hire, train, and supervise Executive Secretary, balancing workload to ensure teamwork and efficiency among Dean’s Office staff
Handle dean’s office project management including calendars, schedules and communication; gather and analyze data from faculty profile system, AIM, Workday; maintain college records/documents; advise college leadership on policies and status of projects
Assist with planning and preparation of college events including academic and college councils; convocations and college meetings; and the Faith + Works Lecture Series
Required
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years HR and/or university office administration experience or equivalent
Excellent leadership skills to communicate effectively, provide training, and keep staff motivated
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public relations skills with faculty, students, administrators and leadership
Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
Adaptability and creative problem-solving
Initiative and ability to work independently as well as in a team
Strong editing and writing skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information
Good understanding of BYU policies and procedures
Knowledge of university systems including Workday
Proficiency with MS Office and Adobe software and ability to learn new software
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in HR field and 5 years university office experience
HR certification and related experience
Experience with Workday and BYU processes
HR Certification
