"To be fully transparent, I was just looking for another opportunity, because I felt I had hit the ceiling in my role at the time. Now, here I am 11 years later. The challenge, change, and opportunity to give back to the community where I live and work keep me motivated while meeting and exceeding deliverables." What’s a common interview mistake that’s easy to fix? Not answering the question asked. Listen with intent to provide a detailed answer that covers the situation/task, action, and result. Candidates should avoid generic claims like "I am a strong communicator" without concrete examples of how they demonstrate those skills. How can candidates leave a lasting impression with hiring managers? Arrive prepared 5–7 minutes early, dress in business casual (for in-person or virtual), have a resume ready, research the company, ask relevant questions, inquire about next steps, and request a business card or email to send a thank-you note.
