Overview
Mid-Level Inspector - Construction Services (CEI) at DRMP. DRMP is expanding its Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division into South Carolina and is seeking experienced Mid-Level Inspectors. This role is suitable for a Junior Inspector seeking the next step or an Inspector exploring new opportunities. The position is listed as Columbia, SC, but we are considering Inspectors throughout South Carolina. Responsibilities
Perform highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout. Make and check engineering computations; inspect construction work and conduct field tests. Document daily contractor activities; prepare field books and earthwork construction logs. Sample and test materials; assist with Final Estimates package preparation. Measure distances and verify accuracy of layout dimensions; verify levels, alignment, and elevations of construction activity/installations. Observe work in progress to ensure procedures and materials conform to specifications. Obtain and prepare material samples for laboratory testing. Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards. Record material quantities and maintain a daily construction/inspection log. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent plus two years of construction inspection experience (one year in bridge and/or roadway inspection), or Civil Engineering Degree with FE (or EIT) Certification and ability to earn additional required Inspector qualifications within an initial year. Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history. Work Zone Traffic Control qualification within the first six months of employment. Must possess SCDHEC/Clemson CEPSCI qualification within the first six months of employment. Ability to work in a team environment and learn data entry and project submittal in AASHTO-Ware Project and ProjectWise. Position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week with possible overtime. Valid construction training qualifications in states outside SC are a plus, with preferred qualification for SCDOT Foundations Technician. Preferred: SCDOT Earthwork & Base Course Technician, Asphalt Roadway Technician, Concrete Technician Level 1&2, and ACI Field Testing Technician Grade 1 qualifications, with completion within 90 days where applicable.
