This HR Generalist role provides full service human resources management for both hourly and salaried employees, and may be the first point of contact with remote oversight of the Sr. Human Resources Manager for the facility. Responsibilities
Employee Relations: coordinates and conducts orientation and onboarding for new hires; promotes an environment free of unnecessary conflict and supports positive employee relations. Plans, manages, and tracks employee recognition and incentive programs. Leads employee engagement activities and communications; conducts investigations and prepares reports; assists supervisors with disciplinary actions; conducts exit interviews and provides trend-based recommendations for management improvement. Staffing: plans and coordinates recruitment for non-exempt positions; supports interviewing and job offer processes; manages internal posting process and documentation; partners with contracted agencies to meet staffing needs. Process Management: maintains HR records, leads clerical records staff, prepares reports, manages budget and expenses, ensures data integrity, manages leaves of absence in coordination with third-party providers and SSC staff, prepares unemployment documentation, and advises management on policy and legal compliance. Manages HR staff time and attendance and oversees recognition programs and celebrations; assists in budget preparation and expenditure reporting. Training: prepares and facilitates HR leadership training on interviewing, equal employment opportunity, diversity, fair labor standards, and internal policies; manages facility certification programs related to hourly and salaried staff, including performance management and learning plans; leads staff on special projects and pilots. Compliance: monitors and recommends actions to comply with state and federal employment laws and company policy; provides orientation on required compliance and maintains employment posters in compliance. Safety: participates on safety team, supports accident reviews, and monitors reporting requirements with recommendations for corrective action. Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of HR principles and practices including employee relations, hiring, training, performance management, and employment law. Ability to build effective working relationships at all levels of the organization. Skills in researching legal compliance and analytic ability to formulate best practices. Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to present reports to management. Computer skills: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and HRIS such as Lawson, KRONOS, and SharePoint. Work Experience and/or Education
Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, industrial psychology, business administration, or related fields (preferred). At least three to five years in a progressively responsible HR generalist role if no college degree; or at least three years in a professional or managerial HR role with a bachelor’s degree.
