Applications for Adjunct Faculty will be accepted on an ongoing basis and will be reviewed as needed. Applicants should indicate which campus they are willing to accept these interim assignments at in their cover letter. Job Summary Adjunct faculty members facilitate students’ achievement of course objectives and prepare college students to matriculate through the program. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Face-to-face, interactive video, or online course delivery and instruction Prepare and submit syllabi, grades and other required course documentation in a timely manner Communicate course requirements and expectations to students Coordinate course schedule with other faculty teaching the same course Assist students with course material as necessary, potentially outside of class time Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in STEM Education or closely related field from an accredited university. 18 hours of graduate level coursework in STEM Education. Uphold the mission and values of USM, College of Arts and Sciences, and the Center for STEM Education. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) Proficiency in the use of technologyfor teaching and learning; Excellent communication,interpersonal, and organizational skills; Adept at developing and deliveringengaging and effective classroom lectures and online learning modules; Proficiency in student assessmentand evaluation methods; Ability to effectively provideconstructive feedback to students and guide them in their professionaldevelopment; Ability to adapt teaching methods tomeet the learning needs of students, including those with varyinglearning styles; Ability to maintain a positive andsupportive learning environment that fosters student engagement andsuccess; Ability to work independently and aspart of a team to achieve shared goals and objectives; Commitment to ongoing professionaldevelopment and continuous improvement in teaching and learning practices. Preferred Qualifications Teaching, mentoring and service experience at a university level. Experience with Canvas technology.
