Human Resources Manager
to oversee our critical seasonal operations and contribute to our corporate mission. Anchorage (Year-Round):
Four Locations: 49th State Brewing Company (Downtown), 49th State Brewing Company (Ted Stevens International Airport), 49 th State Brewing @ “The Rail” (Downtown), & Alaska Pacific Beverage Company (Downtown)
Denali/Healy (Seasonal):
Four Locations: 49th State Brewing Company (Healy), Prospectors Pizzeria (Denali), Tako Cantina (Denali), & Crows Nest Log Cabins (Denali).

The Role: HR Manager, Denali & Anchorage This role is for an HR leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. You\'ll be the linchpin for our Denali team, stationed in
Healey, Alaska , during the peak tourist season and returning to
Anchorage
for off-season strategy and corporate support. You will work under the HR Department, which has employees in both the main corporate office in Anchorage and the Denali HR office.
Seasonal Work in Denali
Summer Season (3rd week of April - 3rd week of September):
The Manager will be stationed in
Healey, Alaska , to lead HR operations for the seasonal business unit, overseeing all staffing, employee relations, and administrative functions during the peak operating season.
Off-Season (Rest of the Year):
The Manager will be relocated to our main
corporate office in Anchorage
to support corporate HR functions, including strategic planning, policy development, and large-scale seasonal recruitment for the following year.
Reporting and Team Leadership The HR Manager reports directly to the corporate HR department in Anchorage. The role involves managing a dedicated Denali HR team with
two direct reports : the
HR Assistant
and the
Housing & Transportation Manager . The Manager will receive comprehensive, year-round support from the Anchorage corporate HR office.
Key Responsibilities and Activities The HR Manager will manage, coordinate, and administer the day-to-day responsibilities and support activities of the Human Resources Department for the Denali unit and contribute to the overall corporate function.
Core HR Management
Cultural Leadership and Compliance:
Serve as a link between management and employees, advising leaders on organizational policy matters, including
Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)
and sexual harassment, and ensuring consistency with NHG\'s mission and values.
Talent Acquisition and Onboarding:
Identify staff vacancies, lead the recruitment, interview, and selection process, and manage difficult staffing issues. Plan and execute new employee orientation to foster alignment with organizational objectives.
Administrative Oversight:
Manage employee records, ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, and administer employee benefits.
Employee Relations and Conflict Resolution:
Administer disciplinary procedures, mediate disputes, and manage termination processes. Conduct exit interviews to gather critical data on employee retention and satisfaction.
Policy and System Development:
Evaluate and maintain administration standards, develop personnel policies, systems, and procedures.
Compensation and Benefits Administration:
Administer our compensation, benefits and performance management systems, safety & recreation programs.
Employee Engagement and Development Strategy A primary focus of this role is increasing employee engagement and retention. The Manager will be responsible for developing and executing targeted initiatives:
Strategic Employee Engagement:
Design and implement routine and regular employee engagement programs, including coordinating
Alaskan excursions
(hiking, rafting, sight-seeing), managing
performance award systems , organizing
employee gatherings , and leading
cultural celebrations .
Compensation and Benefits Package We offer a competitive compensation structure commensurate with the level of responsibility and the seasonal nature of the role:
$65K - $75K (DOE)
Bonus
$3000 Discretionary Completion Bonus upon finishing the summer season in Denali
401K Match
100% match up to 3%, 50% match up to 5%
PTO - 10 Days per year
Sick - 7 Days per year
Holidays - Federal Holidays observed (Denali summer season excluded)
This role qualifies for discounted manager meals
Housing
Complimentary private manager cabin (utilities included). Short walk from the HR office! (Denali)
Eligible for a private room in Employee Housing at an affordable rate. (Anchorage)
Immediate Start and Winter Preparation Strategy We are actively seeking to fill this HR Manager role
immediately . The winter period is strategically utilized for your preparation. We require candidates to complete a
comprehensive onboarding, orientation, and training program
at our Anchorage headquarters during the off-season. This extensive preparation ensures you are fully integrated into the corporate culture and prepared to lead the Denali operations team with complete confidence and preparedness upon the start of the summer season.
Qualifications
Required Leadership Experience:
Demonstrated experience managing personnel in a
positive, motivational, and engaging manner
is mandatory.
Education & Certification:
A related Bachelor’s degree or a professional HR certification (HRCI/SHRM) is required for this role.
Experience Substitution:
Extensive, proven experience in the Human Resources field is highly preferred and may be considered as a substitute for the degree or certification requirement.
Industry Preference:
Prior experience working in a
seasonal operation and within the Hospitality sector
is highly preferred.
