Controller Dallas, TX – hybrid, 3 days onsite Compensation:

$140-155K + Bonus One of Vaco’s fast-growing private equity–backed partners is looking to onboard a Controller for their Dallas office. This role will take ownership of the day-to-day accounting function, lead a team of ~10 (mix of onshore and offshore shared services), and play a critical role in building and streamlining processes as the company continues its rapid growth (20% YOY with recent acquisitions). This is a highly visible role reporting directly to the CFO of the parent company, with close interaction with the CEO. The company offers a “no red tape” environment where you can make a real impact, gain exposure to private equity, and grow into broader finance responsibilities with mentorship from leadership. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, month/quarter/year-end close, and sales tax. Prepare financial reports and assist with audits, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP. Build, document, and improve accounting processes, SOPs, and internal controls. Oversee inventory accounting and ensure accuracy in reporting. Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team, driving accountability and upskilling talent. Collaborate with leadership to support acquisitions, integration, and overall business growth. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or Master’s preferred (not required). 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles. Public accounting experience strongly preferred. Experience in small to mid-size companies ($30M–$100M revenue) required; inventory-related industry experience a plus. Exposure to private equity–backed environments preferred. Demonstrated ability to build processes and develop SOPs. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; proven ability to motivate and mentor teams. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving, adaptability, and organizational skills.
