Virginia Retirement System (VRS) is seeking an analyst to join the Portfolio Solutions Group (PSG), one of three investment units, working alongside Public Assets and Private Assets. The PSG team plays a crucial role in the implementation of asset allocation decisions. The VRS Board of Trustees recently approved a new strategic asset allocation, which includes a modest amount of leverage. As a result, we require a treasury group to effectively source, monitor, and manage capital across the entire pension fund. As the Portfolio Solutions Senior Investment Analyst, and PSG member, you will actively engage in the portfolio management process, contributing to informed decision-making. You will have the opportunity to present your insights to our staff, Investment Advisory Committee, or Board of Trustees. Your role is essential in realizing our mission of securing the financial future of public sector employees. Support the objectives, strategies, and daily responsibilities of the treasury function Develop quantitative and data-driven solutions to support the optimization of capital, funding, and investment strategies Develop data analytics and automated reporting to capture and identify potential trade and revenue generating opportunities Assist in the communication and presentation of Portfolio Solutions Group objectives and performance to both senior leadership and external stakeholders Assist in daily treasury operations, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, trade reconciliation and daily reporting Work closely with all groups across the firm, including risk, IT, operations, legal, and other investment professionals and portfolio managers Interface directly with and help manage external relationships, including trading and financing counterparties, custodians, and vendors Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, accounting, computer science, or a similar field required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered. Open to recent college graduates. Experience in investment management, operations, or capital markets. Understanding of basic accounting principles Interest in advancing technical knowledge on derivatives, financing, and collateral management Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Superb work ethic, attention to detail, team orientation, and commitment to excellence Additional Considerations
Experience in a variety of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, FX, and derivatives (exchanged-traded and over the counter) preferred Intermediate or advanced VBA, SQL and/or Python coding skills highly preferred CFA and/or CAIA designation preferred Special Instructions
