We are currently seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager who will be responsible for acquiring and retaining profitable property, casualty, and workers compensation accounts through sound underwriting principles reflective of company policy, overseeing a team of underwriters and associate underwriters who promote sales of various P&C products through the independent agency system. This position is hybrid in our Glen Allen, VA office or available for remote within our territory. The Underwriting Manager will oversee underwriting operations for property, casualty, and workers compensation lines, guiding a team of underwriters and associate underwriters to promote profitability and growth within the independent agency system. Responsibilities
Acquire and retain profitable P&C accounts through sound underwriting practices aligned with company policy. Lead and develop a team of underwriters and associate underwriters to support sales of various P&C products via the independent agency system. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure underwriting guidelines, pricing, and risk selection meet company standards. Qualifications
Education Bachelors or better in Risk Management or related field. Experience Minimum six years of commercial, multi-line P&C marketing and underwriting experience and two years of supervisory or team leadership experience. Relevant experience in managing and developing the skills of staff. Excellent knowledge of the independent agency system. Hands-on underwriting technical experience. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Preferred Industry designations are preferred. Licenses & Certifications
