The
Public Benefit Specialist
will be responsible for providing Public Benefit application assistance to
Refugee Support Services
clients and determining clients’ eligibility for assistance by obtaining required documentation. Responsibilities include: Assess Refugee Support Services clients’ eligibility for public benefits. Assist refugee clients in applying for Medicaid, SNAP, and TANF. Liaise with internal case workers and external welfare agency employees to facilitate the benefits application process. Explain program requirements, application procedures, and verification needs to clients, and answer questions regarding the public benefits application process. Attend Office of New Americans’ Monthly Case Manager meetings and any meetings or trainings required by supervisors or funders. Ensure all services provided are properly recorded and documented in the case management database. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Job Requirements: Associate's degree preferred; will accept 2 years of experience working with refugees in lieu of degree. Previous experience working in a non-profit or government setting preferred. Experience working with immigrants and refugees with limited English proficiency preferred. Visit our website:
