Senior Casualty Underwriter - GenStar

based in our

New York City

office. This is a hybrid role.

Role Description The Senior Underwriter performs a wide array of underwriting and marketing functions, demonstrating knowledge and competence in both client relationship management and technical underwriting skills. Responsibilities include analyzing and evaluating complex risks and exposures, and applying a working knowledge of rates, forms, pricing structures, terms, and conditions in primary and excess casualty lines. The Underwriter collaborates with a team of professionals within the branch and corporately, leveraging resources to provide a best-in-class response to clients.

Responsibilities

Underwriting Analysis:

Researches and analyzes complex risks, applying tools and resources to structure competitive proposals. Manages individual risk submissions efficiently, understanding the impact of decisions on profitability.

Relationship Building:

Develops existing client relationships and identifies new prospects. Connects with clients at management levels, offering creative solutions and strategies for client management.

Learning/Development:

Participates in industry seminars and courses (CPCU, ASLI) to increase knowledge of policies, principles, and exposures.

Related Activities:

Supports underwriting and marketing activities, including developing new products, training, and participating in client events.

Role Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of five years of commercial liability underwriting experience within the surplus lines marketplace; eight or more years preferred.

Undergraduate college degree.

Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Excellent client relationship management skills.

Commitment to continuous learning and industry knowledge.

Enthusiastic team player and self-starter.

Salary Range $106,000.00 - $178,000.00 USD

The posted salary range varies based on credentials, education, experience, location, responsibilities, performance, skills, and training.
