Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago**Job Description**K.S.A.'s:* Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.* Experience in multi-cultural or health care setting, and experience with interpretation or translation preferred.* Spanish language abilities and skills, written and verbal, required. Ability to interpret and translate medical and healthcare terminology from English to the second language.* Ability to articulate and respond to cultural differences as related to healthcare issues.* Ability to work in a highly regulated environment with multiple demands.Job Duties:* Identifies, assesses and responds to child/ family interpretation needs; understands that this occurs within the broader healthcare context and within the familial context of developmental needs, psychosocial needs, cultural needs and spiritual needs.* Provides medical interpreting services and translation services for discharge instructions.* Communicates with members of the health care team to provide optimal services to patients and families.* Advocates for the language needs of families throughout the continuum of care.* Keeps accurate stats of all patient encounters.* Assists with triaging immediate interpreter needs and dispatching interpreters.* Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.* Other job functions as assigned.**Education**Bachelor's Degree**Pay Range**$21.00-$32.55 HourlyAt Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position. Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.
