For the 2024-2025 academic year, we enrolled over 45,000 students in which 68% identify as Latinx, 11% as Asian/Pacific Islander, 4% as Black/African American, 14% as White, 1% as American Indian/Alaska Native, and 2% as multiracial. Fresno City College is a Hispanic-Serving Institution, reflecting the great responsibility that the College has to the educational attainment and economic well-being of the surrounding community. The successful candidate will join a department dedicated to the use of a curriculum responsive to the students it serves. Providing professional nursing assessment through standards set by the California Nurse Practice Act and Title V on the Fresno City College campus and/or at off-site community campus locations, the College Nurse will be responsible for: Assessing students for self-care or referral to appropriate medical providers; Collaborating and responding regarding crisis team management and emergency problems and providing emergency and nursing care as needed; Maintaining confidential student and staff medical records; Establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with the medical community; Providing appropriate recommendations regarding health, wellness, public health and safety concerns for the campus community; Presenting current and accurate health educational and wellness resources for students; Participating in professional staff development activities for students, staff, and community; Participating in extracurricular and community activities; Supporting and working closely with College Trainer in sports medicine; Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed; and Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice; Master’s in nursing and a California Public Health Nurse certificate; OR Bachelor’s in nursing and a California Public Health Nurse certificate and a master’s in health education, sociology, psychology, counseling, health care administration, public health or community health. Licenses, Certificates and Other Requirements

Current license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of California Board of Registered Nursing. Desirable Qualifications

Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility; Recent experience working with diverse student populations and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion shape participation and outcomes; Willingness to examine and remediate one’s practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students; Related work and professional experience; Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, students with disabilities; Demonstrated ability to work with computers and other technologies used in providing high-quality instruction and support to students; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff; Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours Selection and Hiring Process
