Unit 3 - CFA - California Faculty Association, Temporary, Part Time, Faculty - Family/Consumer Sciences We are seeking instructors with a credential in Home Economics/Family and Consumer Sciences to prepare the next generation of FCS instructors who are completing their teaching credentials. Preference is given to those with experience teaching at the secondary or post-secondary level and familiarity with FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) programming. Instructional areas include Fashion Merchandising and Management, Family Studies, Human Development, Family Finance, Family Resource Management, and Career Preparation. Responsibilities include instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Additional duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments are determined by the Department Chair under the College Dean's guidance. Part-time lecturers are appointed conditionally based on enrollment and budget, with initial appointments typically for one semester, and occasionally for the academic year. Renewals depend on department needs, funding, and performance. Appointments are often made shortly before the semester begins. Rank and Salary Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and education, determined by the hiring department. Most new hires are at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, salary ranges for these ranks are based on a full-time rate (15 WTUs), paid in six installments per semester. Salary calculations are pro-rated based on units assigned.
