The Information Technology Technician I performs computer hardware and software maintenance and repair at a Community College which relies on computerized services in support of its academic and administrative functions. Those services include information technology assistance to academic computer labs, classroom computerized instruction and to departments such as the Business Office, Registrar, Admission, Library, and Student Services. The role focuses on providing technical assistance to users of computer systems through diagnosing and repairing computer and software operating problems, and includes computer installation, modification, and demonstrating proper computer and related equipment operation. Example of Job Duties
Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology or another administrator, the incumbent is accountable for the following essential functions: Functioning of the College’s microcomputer systems, including contributing to the proper functioning of the network by performing skilled technical work to support operation. Advice and assistance in computer and peripheral equipment operation; assisting computer users to be skillful in the use of their equipment and software. This posting includes qualifications, experience and skills but is not limited to the full specifications stated in the job description. Candidates may perform some or all of the job functions. Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree, preferably in a computer technology area, or one to three years of experience in computer system and software installation, repair, maintenance and operation; or a combination of education, training, and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties. Successful Candidate must have or must possess: Microcomputer hardware, software, related peripheral equipment, software applications and equipment assembly and installation. Installing, operating, adapting, diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in computer equipment and software, including complex software systems such as the Banner system. Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. Experience with reflective, interactive, culturally responsive pedagogical teaching techniques. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.). Salary
