Tulane University — Hebrew-language Pedagogy; Professor of Practice Professor of Practice, Hebrew Language Pedagogy and Jewish Studies The Department of Jewish Studies at Tulane University is seeking a full-time Professor of Practice (non-tenure track, 3-year renewable appointment) in modern Hebrew language, with appointment to begin July 1, 2026. Requirements include a PhD in language pedagogy, Hebrew, or a related field, extensive college-level teaching experience, and a record of success in the classroom. We especially welcome candidates who can help build Hebrew language curricular offerings at Tulane. The teaching load is 3 courses per semester, including first- and second-year courses as well as more advanced courses in the target language. As we are developing a Languages Across the Curriculum program, please suggest additional subject areas, both within and beyond Jewish Studies, where you might teach a course in modern Hebrew.
Responsibilities
Teach modern Hebrew language courses across multiple levels (beginner to advanced).
Contribute to curriculum development for Hebrew language offerings at Tulane.
Support the Languages Across the Curriculum initiative by proposing and teaching cross-disciplinary courses.
Qualifications
PhD in language pedagogy, Hebrew, or a related field (or equivalent).
Extensive college-level teaching experience and a proven record of teaching excellence.
