What you\'ll be doing You will be required to work flexibly across the majority of areas within the hospital as part of a wider clinical team including Anaesthetics, Pre-op nursing team, Pharmacy, Physiotherapist and Resident doctors. You will play a crucial role in assessing and improving patients\' cardio-respiratory function prior to surgery, ensuring optimal outcomes and minimising the risk of complications. You will also be involved in pre-assessment and would support the nursing team and be supervised by the Pre-op anaesthetic lead and MD. The candidate will not be required to perform Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CePet), but must possess a background in assessing functional capabilities e.g Scuttle walk and implementing health optimisation strategies.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Patient Assessment: thorough medical evaluations of surgical patients, focusing on their cardiovascular and respiratory health
Pre-optimisation Strategies: Develop and implement individualised pre-optimisation plans
Pre-habilitation Programs: Design and supervise tailored pre-habilitation programs that engage patients in physical and lifestyle interventions
Performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures subject to training to include but not exclusively venipuncture, cannulation and arterial blood gases, arterial line insertion
What we’ll look for in you
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution with GMC registration
Valid medical license to practice in UK
Hold valid Adult Life Support certification and be actively involved in resuscitation training
Minimum of 3 years experience in perioperative medicine, anaesthesia, internal medicine, surgery or General Practice
We would be particularly interested in an individual with GP background who might wish to combine this role with a specialty area of practice such as musculoskeletal or women’s health as part of our Private GP offering.
Salary is competitive, but substantive employment only to be considered.
