Overview
OSF HealthCare seeks an Acute Care Surgeon for its Flagship Tertiary Care hospital in Peoria. Surgical Subspecialists include neuro and orthopedic surgeons, cardiovascular surgeons, advanced foregut, and transplant surgeons, amongst others. Physicians must be board-certified or eligible in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. ATLS certification is required, and ASSET certification is preferred. Successful Academic appointment at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Peoria is required. Teaching medical students, surgical residents, surgical fellows, and other learners is an essential part of the position. The center is a Level 1 facility with a large catchment area and high injury volume and complexity, providing excellent clinical skills development with experienced colleagues in a collegial environment that supports rapid learning and professional growth. Responsibilities
Provide acute care surgical services as part of a high-volume Level 1 center with a broad case mix and complexity. Engage in academic activities including teaching medical students, surgical residents, and fellows. Participate in an academic appointment with the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Peoria. Collaborate with Surgical Subspecialists (neuro, orthopedic, cardiovascular, foregut, transplant, etc.) to deliver comprehensive patient care. Contribute to program development and continual process improvement within the department. Required Qualifications
Board-certified or eligible in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. ATLS certification is required. Physician licensed to practice medicine in the current state. Licensed by the DEA and the State of Illinois to prescribe narcotics, if applicable. Board certified or board eligible in the appropriate specialty(ies) and maintain medical staff membership with privileges. Eligible to participate in Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs. Meet all qualifications to participate in OSF's professional malpractice and other liability coverage programs.
