Clinical Laboratory Technologist IV - Microbiology Per Diem at Stony Brook Medicine. Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrates technical competence in plating, isolating, analyzing, and bacterial identification according to established departmental protocols. Performs microbiology bench work in a team atmosphere with authority, responsibility, and accountability for accurate lab methods. Verifies accuracy of results, identifies inconsistencies, and takes corrective actions as needed. Operates and maintains instruments and lab equipment with routine maintenance as assigned per protocol. Maintains accurate quality control records for all media and reagents following department QC procedures. Proficient in computer/LIS protocols as assigned. Ability to train CLS students, staff, pathology residents, and clinical fellows. Engages in continuing education. Interacts professionally with lab staff, nursing staff, physicians, and other hospital/community members. Adheres to all Stony Brook University Hospital (SBUH) and departmental policies and protocols. Performs other clinical duties as assigned. Ongoing operation and maintenance of instruments and lab equipment per protocol. Qualifications
Required (as evidenced by an attached resume): SL-1: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 0-2 years demonstrated relevant experience. SL-2: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 2-5 years demonstrated relevant experience. SL-3: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with a minimum 6 years demonstrated relevant experience. Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Microbiology, or Life Science; Microbiology or generalist registry (or Registry Eligible) from a nationally recognized organization; recent Clinical Bacteriology and recent LIS experience. Special Notes
