Eugene J. Surowitz and Helen M. Teclaw Professor of Neuroscience - Department of Psychology FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Responsibilities

The CCNY Psychology Department invites applications for an endowed chair in cognitive neuroscience – The Eugene J. Surowitz and Helen M. Teclaw Professor of Neuroscience – to begin in Fall 2025. The hire is part of a new initiative to expand cognitive neuroscience research at CCNY. The department emphasizes active programs in functional neuroimaging, computational neuroscience, and/or artificial intelligence with a focus on cognitive neuroscience. The position includes teaching, research, mentorship, and departmental service. The candidate is expected to maintain an active program of research, obtain external grant support, publish theoretical and empirical work in top-tier journals, be committed to undergraduate and graduate education, and provide mentoring to students and junior faculty. The department supports interdisciplinary collaborations with on-campus programs and external partners, and offers opportunities for collaboration through various centers and initiatives. Qualifications

A

Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience, or a similarly allied field

is required Compensation

Salary:

$141,858 CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package

covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. Support for research, scholarship, and publication is provided as part of ongoing faculty professional development. CUNY is implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will increase by approximately 9.54% with an additional increase of 3.5% effective 9/1/26, per the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
