Under the general supervision of a pathologist, prepares surgical specimens for examination, dictates test results, operates photographic equipment, and performs other related duties. Performs gross dissection, dictation, microscopic examination, frozen section cases, clinical histories and examination summaries. Technical Duties
Accurately processes surgical pathology specimens including properly fixing, cutting, photographing, and sectioning of surgical specimens
Technical/Professional Duties
Writes and maintains procedures of section in compliance with CAP guidelines
Quality
Investigates and documents problems with unacceptable specimens
Problem solving
Follows established quidelines for troubleshooting instrument, reagent or specimen problems
Regulation Compliance
Complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety
People
Participates in staff meetings, helps promote effective working relationships
Customer Service
Uses Patient/Family center values/Conducts all work activities with respect of the rights and wishes of patients, visitors and patients families
Other Duties
Monitor Copath interfaces for proper performance
Qualifications
EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree in biology and successful completion of an accredited Pathologist\'s Assistant program EXPERIENCE Three to six months job related experience to become familiar with a variety of procedures, techniques and equipment used in performing activities LICENSURE YNHHS Requisition ID 162438
