Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, associated training in the mechanical, structural, and piping field, and/or 10 years of construction operations or construction-related experience. Must have direct experience and knowledge of heavy civil or industrial construction. About the Position:
The Superintendent is responsible for all onsite management of construction projects and field personnel from inception to completion of each assigned project. The Mechanical Superintendent must be a competent person in the construction trade with experience in mechanical equipment, structural steel and piping installation works, welding procedures and processes, lifting and rigging and all necessary relevant experience in process plant construction projects. Responsibilities
Safety
Be a leader and example in implementing the company and client safety rules and procedures. Plan for safety equipment needed on the job site. Conduct and oversee effective daily safety meetings. Complete all required safety reports within 24 hours. Pre-Construction
Review, understand, and implement construction project documents such as plans, specifications, drawings, job layout, as-builts and quantities. Assist in planning for personnel requirements on the job site. Assist in planning for equipment and tools needed on the job site and scheduling with the equipment department. Assist in the determination of material needed, availability, scheduling, storage, and handling. Construction
Plan and implement work and goals for each week and for each day in advance. Know and implement the necessary means and methods to complete the desired production safely and efficiently, while maintaining quality control and profitability of the project. Instruct and train others as to proper construction and safety procedures. Maintain and communicate a positive attitude. Perform duties and responsibilities of managing field personnel (including but not limited to hiring, disciplining, terminating, and training). Assist in managing subcontractors on the job site. Maintain an orderly and clean job site. Utilize anti-theft systems to protect company property from theft and vandalism. Timely and accurately maintain and complete timecards. Enlist the assistance of office personnel as necessary to ensure that communication and documentation are completed as required. Keep supervisors continuously informed of project issues, incidents, production information, and all other information, including suggestions necessary to complete the project safely, efficiently, on time, and on budget. Maintain positive relationships with all shareholders. Post Construction
Perform project walk-through with owner, architect, engineer, and project manager. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, and/or 10 years of construction operations or construction-related experience. Must have direct experience and knowledge of heavy civil or industrial construction. Proficiency in the use of computers with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and ability to learn new software applications. Must be able to read and understand construction plans and specifications. Ability and experience to profitably manage all aspects of an assigned project. Ability to initiate and maintain business relationships. Must be able to travel to areas of remote construction project location when required. Must be able to work the hours required to profitably complete the project. Must have a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle history record that meets company insurance requirements. Physical Requirements
Meet all conditions of COP’s drug and alcohol testing requirements as a condition of employment, including pass a pre-employment drug screen and alcohol test. This position requires most of the time spent on construction sites exposing the employee to a variety of conditions, environments, and temperatures depending upon the task being performed. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
