We have now stood up a wholly owned and U.S. operated business, Quantum Systems Inc, in the United States. This business directly addresses the Defense and Security markets in North America, Latin America, and the Asia Pacific region. As a result of this expansion, we have an opening for a well qualified Technical Writer. The Technical Writer, based in Moorpark CA, is responsible for ensuring that our unmanned aircraft systems and related technologies are clearly and accurately documented for a wide range of stakeholders, including operators, engineers, and government clients. In this role, you’ll collaborate with engineering, operations, and product teams to create user-focused documentation that supports system operation, maintenance, deployment, and training. Your mission is to make learning and using our systems seamless by producing clear, consistent, and high-quality technical content, translating complex concepts into accessible documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences. Because this work takes place in a highly regulated environment, accuracy, clarity, and compliance are essential. You’ll also help enhance Quantum Systems’ documentation processes, tools, and templates, shaping how knowledge is captured and shared across our fast-paced sUAS environment. Responsibilities
Create, manage, and maintain technical documentation, including: User Operation, Maintenance manuals, Installation guides, White Papers, Technical Bulletins, Release notes, System interface specifications, Conceptual and system diagrams, Technical Illustrations, Troubleshooting guides, Engineering overviews and architectural documents Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information from subject matter experts, including developers, engineers, and product managers. Distill complex concepts and workflows into digestible, accurate, and usable documentation for end users. Develop and publish documentation using structured authoring tools and formats such as Asciidoctor documentation and HTML to support modern delivery pipelines and reusable content strategies. Manage the document release and review lifecycle, including milestone tracking, stakeholder sign-offs, and version control. Develop templates, style guides, and contribute to continuous improvement of the documentation process and tools. Support documentation deliverables for customer programs, including those governed by defense data standards and regulatory compliance. Participate in Agile development processes and provide ongoing documentation support through iterative product releases. Present content and documentation deliverables to internal teams and external customers when required. Qualifications
Basic Requirements: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Engineering, or a related field. 2-6 years of experience in technical writing, creating technical documents, manuals, and training materials. Understanding of technical products, engineering concepts, and industry-specific terminology. Proven ability to write and edit technical content that is clear, concise, and user-oriented. Solid understanding of aerospace systems, preferably with direct experience in the sUAS domain. Ability track documentation through release and review lifecycle with understanding of version control and sign-off needs. Experience interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, interface specs, and architectural diagrams. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to elicit and consolidate input from multiple stakeholders. Excellent organizational and project management abilities, including handling multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Background Check/U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract requirements. Skills
Proficient in creating clear, concise, and user-friendly technical documents for diverse audiences (internal teams, customers, and external partners). Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics in an understandable and accessible way. Strong grasp of documentation tools and formats including MS Word, Excel, Visio, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat Pro and familiarity with HTML, AsciiDoc, Visual Studio Code or other structured authoring environments. Strong attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines, ensuring high-quality, accurate content. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (market strategy, and CS &PM) to gather information and ensure document accuracy. Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing a wide range of technical documentation in regulated environments, including but not limited to User Manuals, Work Instructions, Procedures, Technical Bulletins, Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), System Design Documents (SDDs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Test Specifications, Operations and Maintenance Manuals, and Management Plans. Familiarity with contract-driven deliverables such as Data Item Descriptions (DIDs) and Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), as well as documentation practices aligned with aerospace, defense, and government standards. Background in regulated environments, particularly defense or aerospace sectors. Exposure to Agile development environments and the ability to integrate documentation workflows within sprint cycles. Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD and CATIA, as well as Agile project management tools like Jira and Confluence. Additionally, skilled in using GitHub for documentation version control, with hands-on experience in configuration management and document control workflows from a content creator’s perspective. Experience with authoring tools (e.g., Oxygen XML Author, Visual Studio Code) or publishing platforms used in government/defense programs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information from subject matter experts, including developers, engineers, and product managers. Distill complex concepts and workflows into digestible, accurate, and usable documentation for end users.
