This position will report to the EHS Global Process Safety manager. Job Scope This position provides technical leadership for the Global Process Safety Center of Excellence to advance the Global Process Safety Division Support Plan, Governance, and Programs. The ideal candidate is a self-starting, degreed Engineer with 15+ years of experience in core Process Safety functions, including PHAs, HazOPs, LOPA, SIL Target assessment, Facility Siting, Dispersion modeling, and Incident Investigation leadership. Specialization in relief system design, verification, and relief effluent handling systems is required. The candidate should also be competent in fire risk assessments for facilities. Key Responsibilities: Leadership:
Lead and direct PS subject matter experts, influence organizational change, define vision, and promote PS as a core expectation. Engage in PHA/SIL assessments and mentor others. Process Safety:
Deliver improvements to corporate PS programs, procedures, and systems, engaging with global EHS/Engineering professionals. Communications:
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus. Implementation:
Support facilities in applying SIL, EHS Criticality Assessments, Alarm Management, and Lifecycle programs, including developing and executing implementation plans. Training:
Develop and deliver PS training, assessing training needs, and creating materials. Performance Monitoring:
Monitor KPIs, analyze data, and develop improvement plans. Audit Protocols & EHS Auditing:
Develop PS audit protocols, serve on audit teams, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations. Relief System Design & Fire Risk:
Serve as SME in relief systems, perform calculations, verify designs, and guide maintenance. Identify fire hazards, update emergency plans, and perform fire risk assessments. Incident Investigation & Industry Knowledge:
Lead or participate in incident investigations, gather evidence, determine root causes, and communicate lessons. Participate in industry committees and benchmarking. Qualifications: Must have an unrestricted right to work in the US. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering or related field, with 15+ years in Process Safety. At least 5 years mentoring others in PS study types. 12+ years delivering site and corporate PS programs. 8+ years leading PS training topics. 3+ years leading PS incident investigations using Apollo or similar methods. Experience in PS leadership, cultural assessments, and data analysis. Skills & Knowledge: Core Process Safety elements, computer skills, system lifecycle management. HazOP/LOPA facilitation and reporting experience. Willingness to travel (40-60%). Effective communication skills. Ability to perform in-field equipment verifications. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of API, ASME, NFPA standards; experience with European codes is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Salus, PHAST. Huntsman is an equal opportunity employer.
