Overview The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus opened in the Spring of 2025. This 469,000 square foot facility is home to UI Health Care’s Orthopedics service line, offering comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible care across outpatient, inpatient, and surgical venues. It includes a full-service community imaging center, laboratory services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, retail pharmacy, and an emergency department, as well as a range of support services. This facility supports a superior patient and staff experience and our missions in patient care, teaching, and research. A Staff Nurse will assess patients\' nursing care needs, evaluate the effectiveness of care provided, and integrate nursing theory and research into clinical practice.

Responsibilities

Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness

Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations

Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings

Develops patient care plans based on patient condition, age, and psychosocial factors to attain expected outcomes

Implements patient care plans and documents interventions and patient/family responses

Collaborates with patients and families in the multidisciplinary care plan

Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning

Implements nursing interventions according to department policies to maintain a safe environment

Schedule and Location Schedule: Wed-Fri 19-0730, includes weekend and holiday rotations as assigned

Location: Regular salaried position located in North Liberty, IA

Salary: $60,000 minimum at 100% effort, to commensurate; does not include differentials. Salary will vary based on years of experience and percent of effort. Pay differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Inpatient differential of up to $5,000 per year. Benefits include paid vacation, sick leave, health, dental, life and disability insurance, and retirement plan contributions. Education and Licensure

Education Required: An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, MNHP/MSN, or a Master’s Degree in Nursing

Licensure/Certification: License to practice nursing in the state of Iowa required by date of hire

Experience and Qualifications

Minimum of six months ED or critical care nursing experience, or completion of senior internship/preceptorship or 100 clinical hours in an ED, ICU, or related area; or 2 years EMT experience with unit clinical experience

Ability to manage critically ill patients within a high-functioning unit

Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

General proficiency with computers

Desired Qualifications

Minimum of two years ED or critical care experience (within the last 6 months)

Experience in pediatric emergency nursing

Experience using electronic medical records

Knowledge of University policies and procedures
