Overview
Located in the Heart of Wisconsin, Portage County is looking to hire a Health & Human Services Director! This position is located in Stevens Point, WI.
This leadership position has direct responsibility under the direction of the County Executive and is responsible for the administration of all services provided in Portage County through the Health and Human Services Department. Current divisions and programs provided include the following: Division of Community Programs that provides Adult Mental Health Services, Adult Protective Services, Programs for Children with Special Needs, Jail Support Services, Portage House and AODA Services; Division of Children and Families that provides Child Protective Services, Child Support Services, Family and Employment Support, Youth Justice Court Services and Foster Care; Division of Public Health providing Community Health, Environmental Health, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Communicable Disease Investigation, Prenatal Care Coordination, School Health, Public Health Planning/Education and Healthy People of Portage County, and Division of Administration/Business Services. This position also requires developing/sustaining partnerships with various local and regional organizations to achieve desired outcomes for target populations. Performs as a collaborative member of Portage County’s management team, participating in department and County leadership and management functions under the direction of the County Executive.
The position is an appointed position per Wisconsin State Statutes 59.17 (2) (br).
Responsibilities Direct administration of all services provided by Portage County Health and Human Services Department. Develop and sustain partnerships with local and regional organizations to achieve outcomes for target populations. Serve as a collaborative member of Portage County’s management team and participate in department and County leadership and management functions under the direction of the County Executive.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in a human service field, public administration, business administration or other related field of study required.
Four to seven years experience in managing a major human service agency or multiple human service governmental programs required.
Previous supervisory experience required.
Demonstrated ability to work with elected officials, the public and union officials required.
Prior experience with contract negotiation and grievance resolution preferred.
Any combination of education and experience that provides the equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position.
