Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven design release engineer to lead the mechanical design release process from concept through production. This role is responsible for owning the release of mechanical components, ensuring that designs meet functional, quality, and manufacturability requirements. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and suppliers.

Responsibilities

Own and manage the release of mechanical parts and assemblies through the product lifecycle.

Create and maintain engineering drawings, CAD models, BOMs, and engineering change documentation.

Ensure all released designs meet performance, durability, cost, and regulatory requirements.

Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to validate manufacturability and support DFM/DFA best practices.

Collaborate on prototype builds, testing, and validation of mechanical components.

Lead Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Change Notices (ECNs) to manage design updates.

Support root cause analysis and design improvements for field or production issues.

Provide technical support during new product launches and ensure timely delivery of release milestones.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

3+ years of experience in product design, engineering release, or mechanical systems development.

Familiar with GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and engineering drawing standards.

Experience with PLM systems (SolidWorks PDM)

Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes (injection molding, sheet metal, etc.), and mechanical testing.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the consumer product / Golf cart industry.

Exposure to APQP, PPAP, and DFMEA processes.

Familiarity with prototype and low-volume production environments.

Hands-on experience with product testing or validation.

Hands-on involvement in prototype development or tooling reviews.

Electronics experience, including familiarity with basic electronic components, wiring harnesses, or integration of electronic systems with mechanical designs.
