Position Summary: Ellis Porter seeks a Case Manager for our PERM Labor Certification team, working alongside attorneys and case managers to help our global clients navigate the US immigration system. You will guide employers and employees through the complex PERM Labor Certification process, a crucial first step in certain green card categories, helping clients achieve their strategic and professional goals. This position can be fully remote within the U.S., or based in our Troy, MI or Ann Arbor, MI offices as an in-person or hybrid role.
Please note: all work must be performed within the United States. What you’ll do: Coordinate and track recruitment activities (newspaper ads, online postings, job orders, etc.), ensuring compliance with DOL regulations and documenting the recruitment process. Communicate with HR contacts, employers, and employees to gather detailed job and candidate information and clarify logistics. Maintain accurate case files and records, including prevailing wage requests, recruitment evidence, and correspondence. Monitor case timelines and deadlines, proactively following up on pending items. Prepare PERM recruitment summary reports and matrices for attorney review. Respond to basic inquiries from employers and employees about process steps and documentation, referring legal questions to attorneys. Draft PERM Labor Certification forms (ETA 9089) for attorney review. Organize documentation for DOL PERM audits, ensuring all evidence is compiled for review and submission. Draft, format, and assemble cover letters, exhibits, and supporting materials for PERM filings. Update case management system records and track ongoing cases. Provide administrative support, including scheduling and correspondence management. Perform other duties as assigned. What skills and experience you’ll bring: Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience. 1+ years in the legal field, preferably in immigration, with experience in PERM applications a plus. High attention to detail, organization, emotional intelligence, and empathy. Ability to manage a busy caseload efficiently under legal deadlines. Experience with legal systems (e.g., BlueDot, DOL FLAG, INSZoom). Ability to work under pressure with a positive attitude. Excellent client service skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Passion for immigration law.
