Assistant Manager
to join our team and help us continue to grow. Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour Key Responsibilities
Customer Service Excellence:
Assist customers with sales & services pertaining to firearms, ammunition and accessories Staff Supervision:
Assist in the supervision and training of store staff. Provide leadership and guidance, ensuring the team follows policies and procedures. Inventory Management:
Help with inventory tracking, stock replenishment, and ensure all firearms and products are displayed and stored according to company and legal requirements. Compliance and Safety:
Ensure that all transactions comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and staff. Sales & Merchandising:
Contribute to achieving sales goals by upselling products, maintaining store displays, and organizing promotions. Administrative Duties:
Assist with cash handling, reporting, and other managerial tasks. Qualifications
Retail Experience:
At least 2-3 years of experience working in retail, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial position. Customer Service:
Strong customer service background, as dealing with customers’ needs, questions, and issues is crucial in this setting. Team Leadership:
Ability to supervise and manage a team of sales associates, including training, motivating, and providing feedback. Sales Skills:
Proven ability to drive sales and meet sales goals. Ability to upsell products and recommend additional merchandise. Firearms and Industry Knowledge
Firearm Knowledge:
A solid understanding of different types of firearms (handguns, rifles, shotguns, etc.), ammunition, and gun accessories. Product Knowledge:
Familiarity with related products like safes, holsters, optics, and other gun-related accessories. Hands-On Experience:
Previous experience handling firearms, possibly from a previous job in the gun industry, hunting, shooting sports, or as a firearm owner. Shooting Knowledge:
Knowledge of basic firearm safety, usage, and maintenance. Ability to advise customers on proper handling and care of firearms. Legal and Regulatory Compliance
California Firearm Laws:
Thorough understanding of California’s complex gun laws and regulations, including: Firearm Sales Laws:
Knowledge of the requirements for background checks, waiting periods, and mandatory documentation (e.g., DROS – Dealer’s Record of Sale). Age Restrictions:
Familiarity with California’s laws regarding the minimum age for purchasing firearms, ammunition, and magazines. State and Federal Regulations:
Understanding of the state and federal regulations for selling firearms, including restrictions on certain types of firearms, ammunition, and accessories. Firearm Safety:
Ability to ensure all transactions and processes are compliant with legal safety standards (e.g., ensuring that customers receive safety training or information). Licensing
Must be able to pass a background check to become an employee, and in many cases, possess or be able to obtain a
CA DOJ Certificate of Eligibility . Organizational and Administrative Skills
Inventory Management:
Experience with inventory tracking and management, including ordering products, conducting stock checks, and managing back-stock. Cash Handling and Reporting:
Experience in managing cash registers, handling large sums of money, and maintaining proper documentation for all transactions. Scheduling:
Ability to manage employee schedules, handle time-off requests, and ensure there is adequate coverage during peak business hours. Problem-Solving:
Ability to resolve operational issues, employee conflicts, or customer disputes efficiently and professionally. Physical and Safety Requirements
Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate amounts of inventory (e.g., boxes of ammunition or firearms). Safety Knowledge:
A commitment to firearm safety procedures, ensuring that both employees and customers adhere to safety protocols at all times. Other Characteristics
