The Role
As a Senior Future Program Ergonomist, you will be responsible for the identification and resolution of ergonomic issues utilizing virtual tools which will drive the reduction of injuries and manufacturing inefficiencies on GM’s next generation of vehicles. The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment will be critical to your success. You will collaborate with other engineering disciplines, such as product design and manufacturing, as well as outside suppliers and UAW representatives.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
Serve as the subject matter expert in the field of ergonomics, supporting launch and pre-production manufacturing ergonomic activities for New & Major vehicle programs in Warren and our vehicle manufacturing sites across North America.
Ensure manufacturing ergonomics requirements are implemented and met on all new vehicle programs.
Conduct Ergonomic risk analysis of new product designs and establish threshold limit values.
Work collaboratively with product designers, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering and assembly plant personnel, including UAW and non-UAW.
Manage all ergonomic issues to closure and coordinate follow-up through appropriate engineering team.
Use 3D Virtual Digital Human Model (DHM) simulations and 3D vehicle CAD to determine acceptable manufacturing ergonomic parameters for new vehicle product assembly.
Initiate and lead ergonomics initiatives/projects to continuously improve processes, solution left and design out ergonomic issues before physical builds begin.
Provide Future Program Ergonomic issue status and updates to Future Vehicle Program and Plant leadership.
Provide timely written reports and updates on specific ergonomics projects to support analytics and lessons learned.
Support manufacturing operations ergonomics by bringing current plant ergonomics issues to the appropriate design and manufacturing engineers for resolution in order to design out similar ergonomic concerns on future programs.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
7+ years of experience using ergonomic analysis tools
7+ years of automotive/ manufacturing/ or other relevant industry experience
3+ years of Digital Human Modeling experience. PS Human or Siemens Jack preferred, 3DSSPP or other software acceptable.
Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Industrial, Systems, Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering.
Demonstrated ability to organize, plan and execute manufacturing and/or ergonomic manufacturing projects.
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and/or programs.
High level of analytical ability and problem-solving skill.
An ability to focus on and work towards planned targets, overcoming obstacles, setbacks and uncertainty, using appropriate processes.
Ability to travel is required.

Experience with Virtual Reality
Master's Degree in Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Industrial, Biomedical, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering.
Demonstrated ability to work with the UAW and other unions
