Overview

The primary responsibility of the Advisor is to prepare youth, academically and socially, to pursue their post-secondary aspirations. This involves supporting a college and career‑going culture on the assigned high school campus. Advisors assist students in all college and career preparatory activities (applications for admission, scholarships, SAT/ACT testing, etc.) and connect students with the financial and social resources needed to make college and career credentialing matriculation and graduation a reality. Responsibilities

Inform students about EIF, associated policies, guidelines, and expectations. Promote a college‑going culture on respective campuses and recruit new students to the program. Build and maintain relationships with high school students. Case management of files, including student closeouts upon graduation. Assist with the college application, admission, and enrollment processes. Register students for college entrance and placement examinations (including ACT, SAT, TSI). Assist students with financial aid, grant, and scholarship applications. Plan and conduct life skills classes and college retention seminars to support social competence. Assist students with scholarship applications and other opportunities (internships, camps) to broaden their horizons. Facilitate college transitions through programming, mentor matching, and one‑on‑one contact. Monitor student progress and refer students for additional services as needed. Identify funding opportunities for students and assist with special projects as needed by EIF Advisor Managers. Qualifications

Experience working with youth in a counseling, high school, or college setting. Experience in college admissions or school counseling is preferred. Excellent analytical, writing, and project management skills. Ability to influence and motivate young people about the value and benefits of college. We are seeking a bilingual advisor to work in South Dallas. Key competencies

Work ethic: Takes responsibility for projects from start to finish. Computer skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office; knowledge of additional software a plus. Essential Functions
