Overview

The Senior Payroll Administrator is responsible for processing the full-cycle payroll for Canada. This person will also assist with payroll reconciliation and audits. The ideal candidate is proactive, solutions-oriented, has good Excel skills, and has a strong understanding of payroll compliance. What You’ll Do Here

Process bi-weekly payroll for both salaried and hourly employees in Workday, ensuring full cycle completion. Carry out all payroll processing tasks in Workday to ensure precise payroll calculations and uphold the integrity of payroll data and related records. Audit processes for new hires, employee changes, leaves, and terminations in Workday. Validate that all employees have submitted their timesheet and that supervisors have approved all timesheets for their employees. Conduct follow-up with employees and supervisors for missing timesheets or approvals. Follow up with staff for missing project codes or activity codes. Train and oversee payroll coordinators in the production and processing of pays for over 700 employees in Quebec and Canada on a bi-weekly basis. Act as a point of contact for payroll-related questions or requests and handle them accurately and in a timely manner. Remit RRSP and DPSP funds to the company custodian. Audit Service Canada Records of Employment (terminations, leaves, etc.). Perform tasks related to payroll accounting (journal entries). Oversee and reconcile tax filings with a third-party compliance partner (OneSource Virtual). Review and ensure compliance with payroll procedures in accordance with local regulations. Research best practices to identify new payroll processes and policies, including preparation of payroll documentation. Participate in payroll audits and manage the year-end process of providing tax statements to governments and employees. Provide remittance details for contract workers who are not incorporated to accounts payable and consolidate T4As into the overall T4 filing. What You’ll Need To Succeed

DEC in administration or other relevant training. A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in Canadian payroll processing. Experience with Workday ERP software is an asset; experience with Dayforce and/or ADP systems. Excellent communication skills in both French and English. Canadian Payroll Association certification (PCP/SCP). General understanding of accounting principles as it relates to payroll and compensation. Strong organizational skills with ability to follow up and prioritize. Discretion, honesty, and responsibility. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Problem-solving ability and timely issue resolution; strong client services and interpersonal skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
