Overview
Responsible for all aspects of payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees, including tax filings, fringe benefit calculations, and audit preparation. Ensures accurate payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations, supports corporate accounting functions, maintains vendor records in the ERP system, and contributes to special projects as assigned. This role requires strong proficiency in payroll systems, accounting principles, and effective communication across departments. Working Procedure
The following are the usual major job duties, but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties as assigned by the supervisor: Process hourly (weekly) and salary (monthly) payrolls. Process monthly, quarterly and yearly payroll tax returns. Prepare year-end W-2s and tie out to 941s and state returns. Prepare month end journal entries for all payroll related transactions and responsible for reconciling those general ledger accounts. Responsible for calculation and processing of year-end fringe benefits, including but not limited to: relocation, education, housing, leagues, and raffles. Responsible for all government & state report filings relating to payroll. Prepare compensation schedules for workers’ compensation renewals and audit. Prepare year-end audit schedules relating to payroll. Assist with other corporate accounting processes such as month end journal entries, Pcard statement review, Barn accounting, and the 1099 vendor year-end review. Responsible for Accounts Payable vendor maintenance in the company’s ERP. Special projects and other assigned duties as requested. Special Skills and/or Experience
Must be proficient in use of MS Office applications. Must have experience with Excel. Fundamental accounting knowledge required. Must have prior payroll experience with an integrated ERP system such as Oracle or SAP. Minimum high school diploma. Associate’s degree in business or accounting preferred. Must have 5+ years’ experience processing payroll and reporting in an environment greater than 250 employees. Experience in the manufacturing industry a plus. Proficiency in using Microsoft software and demonstrate capability to learn new software applications. Demonstrated skill in effective communication and the ability to communicate directly with internal and external customers. Prior experience processing payroll internally for a manufacturing company.
